Human Rights Watch, the New York-based rights organisation,
has called on China to provide more humanitarian assistance for ethnic
Kachin refugees from Myanmar.
About 10,000 people had fled from Kachin, a northernmost state in Myanmar,
to neighbouring China after fighting between rebels and government troops
ended a 17-year ceasefire last year.
The total number of those displaced by the conflict has reached 75,000.
As Al Jazeera's Wayne Hay says in this exclusive report from Bangkok, the
refugees are facing a worsening situation with regard to basic needs,
including food and shelter, in squalid camps in the southwestern Chinese
province of Yunnan.
