Myanmar is home to one of the highest
concentrations of landmines in the world.
The area along the country's border with Thailand has been home to an
ethnic Karin rebel group for years, and the government has laid a number
of mines there in response to the rebellion.
Many victims of the mines, however, are civilians. And, unable to get
sufficient treatment in the area, they are forced to cross the border into
Thailand seeking medical care.
